LILA Pro Is Now Available on Best Buy Canada 🇨🇦

We’re proud to announce that LILA Pro, the world’s first AI-powered home composter, is now available on the Best Buy Canada online marketplace.

VCycene started in Vaughan, Ontario, back in 2021. The idea was to deal with food scraps right in the kitchen, before they ever made it to the curb.

We built our early prototypes in ventureLAB’s labs in Markham, got our compost certified Category A, picked up a Best of CES 2025 nod from House Digest, and started working with the Township of King. Now you can find LILA Pro on Best Buy Canada.

Why This One Matters to Us

Canadian households throw away about 2.3 million tonnes of edible food a year, around 140 kg per home (according to Love Food Hate Waste Canada). That’s roughly the climate impact of 2.1 million cars, and that number only counts the edible stuff. Peels, eggshells, and coffee grounds go in the bin too.

We’ve always thought the fix has to happen in the kitchen. Being on Best Buy Canada helps with that, since it’s where a lot of Canadians already go when they’re shopping for appliances.

It’s been a busy year. We launched in the U.S. in January, delivered another unit to the Mayor of King in February, and were featured by the Government of Canada and CIPO in April. Best Buy is the next step.

What Is LILA Pro?

LILA Pro is an AI-powered home composter that turns everyday food scraps into lab-verified Category A compost in as little as 7-14 days.

A lot of “food recyclers” just dry and grind scraps into something that looks like dirt. LILA Pro actually composts. It uses aerobic composting, with sensors tracking temperature, moisture, and airflow while the AI adjusts conditions as it goes.

What comes out is compost you can put straight on your plants, garden, or lawn.

What you get with LILA Pro

🌱 Real Compost, Not Dehydrated Waste

LILA Pro produces Category A compost that’s ready for gardens, houseplants, and lawns, with no extra processing needed.

🧠 AI-Powered and Fully Autonomous

Sensors collect real-time data so LILA’s AI can manage the composting environment for you. Add scraps, press a button, and let LILA handle the rest.

🔄 Dual Chambers for Continuous Composting

Two independent chambers mean you can keep adding fresh scraps while another batch is composting. No waiting between cycles.

👃 Odour-Free and Quiet

Aerobic composting and built-in filtration neutralize odours at the source. At just 43.5 dB, LILA Pro runs quietly in the background of your kitchen.

⚡ Energy Efficient by Design

LILA Pro is built for everyday use, delivering strong composting performance without high energy consumption.

What Changes at Home

Food scraps in landfill break down into methane. Composting them at home skips that step and puts the nutrients back into soil you can actually use.

Most LILA owners notice the day-to-day stuff first: fewer fruit flies, a garbage bag that doesn’t smell, and taking the bin out less often.

Kelley and Antonio in Pickering put it simply: “What sold me was the fact that it’s easy and you could actually see the rewards.”

For Ellery in Seagrave, it’s about the bigger picture too: “It’s one of those things that help the environment, as it were, right? Trying to reduce garbage output, and we could use the compost in the garden.”
